There are multiple options for those with existing ERP solutions who want to start using the Power Platform.
Customers with ERP systems often look to the Power Platform to plug gaps in their solution or improve existing processes. Offering end-users a simplified mobile app experience via Power Apps can save both time and money by removing the requirement for training in a complex ERP system, and creating Flows which are triggered directly from the ERP to allow for simple integrations without the need for third-party software.
Some Dynamics applications like Dynamics 365 Sales, Dynamics 365 Customer Service and Dynamics 365 Talent already use Dataverse. This enables users to create solutions built directly against their data without the need for integration.
The Power Platform allows for seamless integration with ERPs including Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP and Salesforce, thanks to its pre-built connectors. However, not all ERPs have a pre-built connector, and sometimes the existing ones are lacking in functionality or polish. Custom connectors plug the gaps left by these problems, by allowing users to create their own connectors around REST API’s.
Using these standard and custom connectors, we can push and pull data to and from apps and use webhooks and events to trigger Power Automate Flows, allowing actions inside our ERP to initiate processes in other systems like Outlook or OneDrive. Data pulled from SAP can be pulled into a canvas app with its own look and feel, modified, and pushed back into SAP; a warehouse shipment posted inside Dynamics 365 Business Central can trigger a Flow which sends a shipment document to the customer.
